SIC Hackathon: CS Pitches is a collaborative hackathon between undergraduate students with programming skills and high school computing science teachers in Edmonton. This powerful combination facilitates portfolio development, community building, and explaining current technologies through the lenses of education.

The curriculum in public schools must strive to keep up with the demand for relevant skill development. In this event, each team will solve a problem and will work with a high school teacher. Generally speaking, problems are about creating an interesting project about a contemporary topic to help high school students understand computer science. Details will be found on GitHub. Working with a teacher sponsor will mean ensuring your project can be moulded by teachers into learning activities to be used in the classroom.

Hack Day (March 2, 2019):

During the hack day, the problem is pitched by the teacher sponsor to the teams. Through conversation and iteration, a viable teaching activity project is settled on and work begins to create the project. By the end of the day, the projects are nearly ready to be published on GitHub.
